My grandmother passed away many years back, and I was just during some geneological research and looked at her fatality certificate. The cause of fatality was simply listed as “atherosclerotic and hypertensive heart disease.” A secondary cause of fatality was listed as “stoutness.” Absolutely nothing else was listed. That seems sweet general to me. Does this mean that she simply had a heart attack? Or that her heart was so seriously weakened by disease that it just gave out? No autopsy was done on her so I wonder how the doctor was able to conclude anything just by looking at her externally. I guess I’m just curious as to what this means and how such a conclusion could’ve been reached lacking an internal examination. Any insights would be valued.

He didn’t show a new heart attack, only his ancient healed infarction……so how did he really die? I will talk to the doctor next week, because he is on vacation, so maybe somebody can help until then….
He was 76 years ancient, and had type 2 diabetes, stage 4 renal failure, a 15 year ancient infarct, two previous strokes, and hypertension, all controlled. Also atrial fibrillation.
