Heart Bypass Surgery (CABG)

Visit cardiology.healthanimations.com for FREE videos, illustrations and uncomplaining handouts for healthcare providers. This 3D medical animation of the heart shows a coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) procedure used to combat coronary artery disease. Beginning with a midline sternal incision, the heart is connected to a perfusion machine which will take over the duties of the heart while the surgery takes place. Two different grafts are used to bypass the blocked coronary arteries the internal thoracic artery from inside the chest wall, and the saphenous vein from the leg. After the procedure, the heart is shocked to restart its beating. A drainage tube is left at the incision site to drain away excess fluid. The animation continues to show two other types of approaches to a coronary artery bypass graft, off-pump bypass surgery and minimally invasive bypass surgery. This is similar to the procedure performed on former president Bill Clinton and California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

    @GoldKamil
    if u have TOF that means some unoxygenated blood goes to ur circulation..thats not excellent. if u didn’t go into surgery, ur heart will malfunction as u get older..the heart always tries to compensate to some defects but it cannot compensate forever..u need ur heart to be fix or else u know what will happen..be more worried of what will happen if u didn’t go into surgery…but i know ur anxiety.

  20. docnikhil says:

    @GoldKamil I am terribly sorry that you had the misfortune of having these ingrained heart defects but I really do reckon you should learn more in this area your conditions. I’m bowled over to see that you don’t seem to be very well informed in this area your affect up and the procedures that have been performed on you so far. For model, it is ‘Tetralogy of Fallot’ (pronounced fall-o). Please talk to your surgeon and question him to clarify the treatment options- it will help you be more cool and more confident.

  21. CarolineWithLove says:

    @thFreakMadda that means you a 95% of chances to live, that’s a excellent thing

  22. thFreakMadda says:

  35. mattjonz222 says:

    @triedge763 it is better to pay lots of money and get your heart fixed even though it is a bit of a risk. Lacking the operation you would die anyway in a painful way.

  36. triedge763 says:

    @mattjonz222 still it is sweet dangeres because some die so its 3/10 if a name dies because if i needed heart surgery id be nurves and plus how much do you need to pay for heart surgery?

  37. kaylylyn says:

    I hope, i never gotta make one op like that.

  38. vehlajatt22 says:

    i would never be able to operate on a name knowing that if my hand slips or i mess up then he’ll be dead

  39. GamingForLife96 says:

    :/ it makes me wanna puke out my own guts( no offence if any of you have ever done so) but i hope that this nver happens to me :( i dont wanna go to that and have the doctor stab my heart with one of those equipment :( expecially if the person that is doing the surgery despises me and wants me dead!!!!
