What are good things to put in a care package for heart surgery patient?
Question by Katie: What are excellent equipment to place in a care wrap for heart surgery uncomplaining?
A friend of my fiance and mine is having surgery to repair a hole in her heart and I want to place something together for her for while she is recovering (books, magazines, movies, etc.). She has two small children and I’m sure her husband will be taking care of them while she is recovering. Anyone have any excellent thoughts of what they all might find helpful? I want to find some equipment to help her pass the time while she is not sleeping, and maybe something for her husband and the kids. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks all!

That’s very kind of you. Maybe a book of Sudokus or crossword puzzles. Try introducing her to something new like Kakuro. It’s like sudoku but harder.
What a sweet thought!
I reckon some puzzles or games for the kids, maybe try to pick at least one she can play with them lacking having to get up, like a Mad Libs book.
Her husband would probably appreciate some help with quick dinners, so something like a jar of spaghetti sauce and a bag of pasta would be nice.
You know her, so you’d know what she’d find entertaining, maybe some celebrity gossip magazines, or a book of crosswords.
A small cold pack for the stitches would probably be valued, too. They can get kind of sore and bruised.
Of course, a family friendly DVD and a couple of bags of microwave popcorn can make for a nice family movie night.
I hope she has a quick recovery!
That is a very nice thought. Here are some equipment that may be helpful:
Magazines (Parenting, Child, Excellent Housekeeping, Redbook, Ladies Home Journal)
A Journal
A nice aromatherapy candle for her hospital room (if they let her light it)
A crossword puzzle book
A compilation of classic small tales
A nice nail file and/or nail kit
Postcards for her to send to people
Catalogs from Pottery Barn (Those are fun to look through and get decorating thoughts from)
Scented lotions-as an added touch
The “Farmers Alamanac” Book (fascinating reading)
A Daily Devotional Book
A Travel Guide to everyplace she has always sought after to go
Hope that helped. Se will just be so appreciative of the fact that you went to such distress.
a blood difficulty gauge – thermometer – gift card for his medicine it may seem rude but trust me he’ll use them more than flowers & cards
when i had open heart surgery it feels like you’ve been hit by a truck so usually something really soft to hold on to, maybe lotions that are relaxing or body pillow
I am a nurse, and one of my patients loved listening to soothing sounds CDs.
Slippers, PJ’s, a excellent kid movie, books, magazines, a puzzle for the children, coloring books hope this helps..
Peace to you and your friends family, may the lord be with you and have a pleasant weekend…..
